Shoptimal
A Shopify app that scans a store, ranks what is wrong by estimated dollar impact, and applies the fixes the owner approves.
Shoptimal reads a Shopify store, scores it out of 100, and lines up every problem behind the one estimated to be costing the most sales. It writes the fix for each problem, the owner approves it, and it goes straight back into the store. It also runs cart recovery and review request emails.
I decide what it is, how it looks, how it sounds and how it behaves. Claude writes the code. I review every change before it ships. Agents I built run the content pipeline and the daily operations around it.

Why it exists
Independent merchants do their own content, email and analytics. The big retailers have teams for that.
I started Shoptimal from that gap. A store owner running everything alone has no time to read an SEO guide, work out which problem matters most, and then rewrite every product page. AI can do much of that work. The tools I found were generic and cut off from the store’s own data, so they wrote plausible text about a store they had never looked at.
Shoptimal reads the store first. It says what is wrong, ranks it by what it is likely costing, and drafts the fix for the owner to approve.
It is for solo founders early in their store’s life, with no SEO background and nobody to ask. The first-time store owner is the person I design for.
How it works
-
01
Scan
Paste a store address and Shoptimal reads the public storefront the way Google does. A scan takes about 15 seconds and changes nothing on the store.
The first scan inside Shopify is read-only too. Nothing is written to the store until the owner approves it.

02
Score
Store Health is one score out of 100, split across four parts: product content, customer retention signals, storefront readiness, and discoverability. The method is published, so a score can be checked against the rules that produced it.
Every example on this page uses Northwind Supply, an invented store, labelled as an example.

03
Rank
Every problem gets an estimated monthly cost in dollars, and the list sorts with the most expensive first. The estimate always sits beside its working.
A store with no sales yet cannot have a dollar figure. It gets a diagnosis ranked by reach instead of a number made up to fill the gap.
Cart recovery emails not set up~$1,24014 pages without a meta description~$24089 images without alt text~$95How this is estimatedFrom your public catalog (142 products, median $48) and industry benchmarks. An estimate, not your sales.

04
Fix
Each fix is written for the specific product: a description, an SEO title, a meta description, alt text. The current text and the proposed text sit side by side. The owner approves it, edits it first, or fixes a whole batch at once.
Approved fixes are written back to Shopify. Nothing publishes on its own unless the owner switches Autopilot on.

05
Recover
A store loses sales it has already earned when a cart is left behind. Shoptimal sends a three-email recovery sequence, at 1 hour, 24 hours and 72 hours, written in the store’s own voice and branded as the store.
Review requests and post-purchase thank-yous work the same way. Nothing sends until the owner switches a flow on.

Measure
Connect Google Search Console and Shoptimal marks the day each fix went live, then shows clicks, impressions and position before and after. A ledger records every change, so the question of what Shoptimal did to a store always has a written answer.

Everything it does
Score and rank
- Free audit
Paste an address at shoptimal.io/audit and get a ranked score in about 15 seconds, with nothing to install.
- Store Health score
0 to 100 across product content, retention signals, storefront readiness and discoverability.
- Ranked leaks

- Public leaderboard
Scanned stores ranked by Store Health score, with an embeddable badge.

Fixes
- Product fixes
Descriptions, SEO titles, meta descriptions and alt text, approved one at a time or in bulk.
- Autopilot
Fixes new products overnight. It only runs if the owner switches it on.
- Page and blog fixes
Pages and posts are scored like products, with duplicate content flagged.

Images and links
- Image optimizer
Compresses images and renames camera-roll files for search. Originals are kept for 30 days.
- Broken links
Links from products, pages, posts and menus are checked, and each broken one gets a one-click redirect.

Structured data and search
- Structured data
Product, breadcrumb, FAQ and organization schema through a theme embed, with no theme code edited.
- Google index checks
Shows which pages Google has indexed.
- Search performance
Clicks, impressions, position and click-through rate from Google Search Console, before and after each fix.

- Abandoned cart
Three emails at 1 hour, 24 hours and 72 hours, branded as the store.
- Review requests and post-purchase
Sent after delivery, in the store’s voice.
- Written for the store
Emails use the store’s real policies and never invent a promise or a discount.
Receipts and community
- Fix ledger
Every change Shoptimal makes is logged.
- Weekly digest
A summary of what changed and what moved.
- Leaderboard and badge
A public ranking by Store Health score, and a badge a store can embed.

The mark is a shopping bag drawn as an S. The look is light, with at most two dark navy bands per page and teal used once per section.
Money is an estimate, and the working is beside it
Every dollar figure is labelled an estimate, with a “How this is estimated” note beside it, so the owner can decide how far to trust it.
No dollar figure for a store that cannot produce one
A store with no sales yet gets a diagnosis ranked by reach. A figure for an empty store would be invented.
The example store is always an example
Northwind Supply is labelled wherever it appears, and nothing presents it as a real customer.
Nothing changes without a yes
Fixes wait for approval, Autopilot and email flows are off until switched on, and optimized images keep their originals for 30 days.
The product is the illustration
No stock art and no icon grids. Each section shows a scan, a ranked list, a drafted fix or an email sequence.
Motion explains once. Nothing loops or pulses. Scroll stories follow scroll position rather than a timer, counters count up to the number already in the markup, and with reduced motion on the page shows the finished state.
How I built it
The agents propose. I decide.
I am a designer who runs a business, and I build with agents. I decide what Shoptimal is, how it looks, how it sounds and how it behaves. Claude writes the code. I review every change before it ships.
Shoptimal is a Shopify app embedded in the Shopify admin, with a marketing site beside it.
The brief. I write down what the product is, who it is for and what it will not do, before any build starts.
Mockups. I design the screens and approve a direction by looking at it. The homepage direction was approved on 13 September 2026 from mockups.
Written rules. The design direction, voice and brand are written down, and the agents read them first.
Agent-directed build. I direct coding agents against the approved mockups and the written rules.
Review. Every change is checked against the mockup and the rules, and I read it before it ships.

Status and what I am working on
Shoptimal is live and I run it: the product, the app, the marketing site, the analytics, the email and the content pipeline.
- Growing the number of stores using it
- Directing the agents that research, draft and prepare its content
- Making the fixes and the estimates behind them better
